The Preposition Framework "in The X Before The Inspection,

With the development of modern Chinese, the usage of prepositional frames becomes so common that they have become an important grammatical form. However, the studies on prepositional frames are insufficient. Although there are some related studies, the studies on this structure are still in the starting phase and haven't gained enough attention. This paper studies the prepositional frame"在X前"which is used a lot in modern Chinese. With the purpose of being conducive for the studies on other prepositional frames and making contribution to the system of prepositional frames, we study the prepositional frame"在X前"in an all-round way.There are five chapters in this paper. In chapter one and two, we summarize the syntactic and semantic features of the prepositional frame"在X前"and its distribution pattern through the studying of a large number of real life language materials. In addition, we compare and analyze the following three forms:"在X前","在X之前"and"在X以前". In chapter three, we discuss the metaphorical features of"在X前". We believe there are two features and we also give the reason why these two features are come into being. In chapter four, the appearance and hide of the preposition"在"in"在X前"as well as the pragmatic function of"在X前"are studied. In chapter five, after comparing"在X前"and"在X后", we find the non-symmetry in their syntactic and semantic functions and try to explain the reasons. The theory of three-surface and cognitive grammar are used in this paper. On the basis of former studies, we try to enrich and deepen the related the knowledge of the prepositional frame"在X前".
