Inspection Of The Prepositional Frame "在X中"

In modern Chinese language, there is a grammar phenomenon which is worth researching. That is the prepositional frame, which is composed of the preposition, localizer and other composition. As we all know, the prepositional frame is frequently used in modern Chinese language. This paper will focus on analyzing the prepositional frame"在X中"based on the previous researches.To begin with, in the first chapter, we have talked about the syntax features and distribution models of the prepositional frame"在X中". We find that the"X"of the prepositional frame"在X中"can be noun, nominal phrase, verb, verb phrase and to name just a few. Then, we find that the prepositional frame"在X中"can be used as adverbial modifier, attribute and complement. For example, most of event nouns can be used in this frame and also most of collective nouns, abstract nouns and some uncountable nouns. But some nouns represent the moment or proper nouns can not be used in this frame.In the second chapter, through further analyzation, we know that what type of noun and verb can be used in this frame. For example, the verb representing a durative course can be used in this frame. Most of verbs that can not represent the durative course and some verbal group with resultant complement can not be used in this frame. At the same time, monosyllabic verbs can hardly be use in this frame. And also, we obtain four main semantic function such as position meaning, time meaning, rang meaning and state meaning.In the third chapter, through analyzing, we find that the regulations of the default of"在"of the prepositional frame"在X中", which shows that the default of"在"can affect not only the structure and semantic of the sentence, but also the pragmatics. For example, when the prepositional frame"在X中"locates in the head of the sentence, the default of"在"free to some extent. But when the prepositional frame"在X中"locates in the center of the sentence, the default of"在"is complicated.In the forth chapter, we investigate the connection and difference between"在X里"and"在X中". From that, we find that these two frames have many similar points and at the same time some difference. For example, the noun that represent period of time, collectiveness, natural environment and collective abstract nouns or phrase can be used in these two frames.In the fifth chapter, we conclude the using of metaphor in the prepositional frame"在X中". For this frame, it has rich position meaning. So, it also has rich position metaphor and on this basis, it has more usage of metaphor. In Chinese language, through the rich metaphor of the frame"在X中", people have more options in the daily communication and make our language more rich.This paper has some innovations and breakthrough, however, because of my limited knowledge, shortage of the analytical reasonableness skill and the limitation of the corpus, therefore, the research concerned need further developed. And also, we need focus on more problems. For example, we need concentrate on how to apply the fruit of researches to the daily teaching courses and how to improve the researches according to the actual situation of foreign students.
