Chinese school education is an important means for the whole nation to train the qualified talents, transform traditional social customs and inherit or develop civilization. The central school in ancient China was the highest—grade school all over the country. It embodied a concentrated reflection of the nation's education policies, laws or rules, and what is more ,it was an important reference standard of the nation's educational development level. The research into the central school in Five Dynasty is necessary for the deep research into Five Dynasty. I'm trying to outline the central school education system of Five Dynasty and giving a full ,account and objective dissections and illustrations. According to the existing historical materials, the paper consists of six parts: the departments, the officials, the students, the curricula, the subject matter and the instructional materials,the examinations and the rituals. In my opinion, Five Dynasty was in a state of chaos and its central school wasn't developed, but the central school had its own distinguishing features. It was a critical period between Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, which the school education for most nobles was changing into that for most common people .For all above, the central school in Five Dynasty formed a connecting link between Tang school education and Song school education.
