Japan, America, In The Three Korean Bilingual Comparative Analysis

The thesis makes a comparative investigation of the bilingual use of the Korean nationality in Japan, America and China.The thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter I is the introduction, which introduces the purpose, significance, content, investigation method , object , and the former survey of the study . Chapterll introduces the social environment of the Korean nationality in the three countries. Chapter III compares the language competence of the Korean nationality in the three countries. Chapter IV compares the language attitudes of the Korean nationality in the three countries. Chapter V con~,ares the language selection of the Korean nationality in the language selection of the Korean chapter VI is the countries.The thesis expounds the differences, similarities and the cause of formation of use condition of the Korean nationality in the three countries according to the flowing four respects.Part I is the background data. There are great differences among the social environment of the Korean nationality in the three counties respectively. By means of the analysis of the distr1bution of the surrounding Korean nationality residents, the transcultural adaptivedegree, the continuationof national culture within individual family and the national homogeneity, etc. It shows different extent of national consciousness and ccxmiunity cohesion.Part II compares the language competence of the Korean nationality in the three counties. Because of different social environment and cultural background, the Korean nationality inthe three counties differ greatly in the native language competence and the second language competence. The differences embody themselves in respects of different ages, sexes, professions and educational background groups.Part III Compares the language attitudes of the Korean nationality in the three counties. Through the investigation of the attitudes to the native language and the association of the foreign language (second language), it shows different attitudes to the native language of the Korean nationality in the three counties. The Korean nationality in Japan show relatively obvious trend to abandon their native language, the Korean nationality in America show relatively balanced attitudes to maintaining their native language and the second language, theKoreannationality inChinashowa little stronger trend to maintain their native language than to maintain the second language.Part IV Compares the language selection of the Korean nationality in the three countries. By means of the occasions, objects and code selection, it shows different language use condition of the Korean nationality in the three countries. In Japan, the rate of the second language utilization is higher than that of the native language. In America, the rate of the native language utilization is higher than that of the second language. In China, the rate ofnative language utilization is as high as, or even higher than that of the second language.
