Amphibious Legal Vocabulary Words

Amphibious legal espress ions are word groups of special characteristics among the lexicological system in mondon Chinese. Howerer, for a long time, no monograph, except a few related articles, has been available to deal with them.In recent years, laws have been performing a closer relationship with the society. The third generation of leadership with president Jiang Zemin at the core put forward the strategy of governing according to law and the aim of building a legal socialist country. Accordingly, people develop the demand for law languages of a higher level. All these have encouraged epoch reguirement for the application of amphibious legal expressions.Therefore we first define amphibious legal expressions. The ones we are dealing with herein are those which are used in both the field of legal expressions and of common modern Chinese, and which are marked with things concerning laws. Then based in this, we collected about 180 amphibious legal expressions and made tentative analysises of them.This article covers the following sections:( I ) The classification of amphibious legal expressions.They fall into three categories:A:Completely common expressions used both in the fields of laws and common language;B:Legal expressions reformed by and borrowed into thecommon language;C:Common language expressions reformed by and borrowed into legal language.The three categories mentioned above further fall into smaller branches separately. For example, category A can be divided into two groups:archaic expressions and non archaic expressions.(II) Features of amphibious legal expressions.Category A differs greatly from category B and C. Therefore we should make a semantic and approach to it抯 features and an entire analysis of the structural and grammatical features of these three basic categories.(III) The come梐bout of amphibious legal expressions.Like other linguistic phenominon, amphibious legal expression have internal causes and external causes as well. Detailed analysiser of this are available in this article.(IV)Contrast semantic analysises of amphibious legal expressions have been made about the meaning of some of the amphibious legal expressions in category A and category B,C.The research in this article has a practical sense and a theoretical value. Tt is hoped that this article will enable us to make a further research on this subject and have a further knowledge of what we are discussing.
