Yunlin Temple,located in Yanggao County,Datong City,Shanxi Province,is a national key cultural relic protection unit.The Great Hall of Fame in the temple houses about 200 square meters of Ming Dynasty water and land murals,which are well preserved.There are 124 groups and 515 body images in the east,west and north walls,which are the most outstanding works of the existing water and land frescoes in our country and are important material for studying the evolution of Chinese painting art and cultural value.The water and land murals of the Great Hall of the Male are painted on the east,west and north walls.The north wall depicts the deities,bodhisattvas,Ming kings,etc.,the east wall depicts the fairy gods and the ancient ancestors,and the west wall depicts some fairy gods,the gods of the underworld and the ghosts.The murals of Yunlin Temple are distributed in parallel and are divided into upper,middle and lower layers.Each group of gods is arranged in descending order.The lines are round,thick,powerful,vivid and rhythmical.Wu Daozi Brasenia schreberi strips and iron line drawing are inherited and used.Colors include green,yellow,red,white,black and other elements,color contrast coordination.Through the study of the deity content,artistic features and historical causes of the water and land frescoes in Yunlin Temple,and on the basis of previous achievements,this paper attempts to further understand and explore.
