Objective To survey and analyze the content and the possible influence factors of IL-4, IL-13, IFN-γ, TGF-P in cord blood of new arrivals and the possible influence factors of occurrence of eczema within 6 months before the delivery of new arrivals.Method The cord serum of 72 full-month, normal term infants in qingdao were analyzed using ELISA for the content of IL-4, IL-13, IFN-γ, TGF-P including thirty-eight boys and thirty-four girls. The allergic diseases of parents, smoking history of parents, the dietary structure of mothers during pregnance and the occurence of eczema of infants within 6 months were also recorded. Results The content of IL-13 in cord serum in the group of allergic families was significantly higher than the control group who had no family history of allergic disease (P<0.01) while the content of TGF-P in cord serum in the group of allergic families was significantly lower than the control group who had no family history of allergic disease (P<0.01).The content of IL-4 and IFN-y in cord serum in the group with family history of allergic diseases had no significant difference with the control group who had no family history of allergic disease. The smoking history of parents, the diet of mothers in pregnance didn't have impact on the content of IL-4, IL-13, IFN-γ, TGF-P in cord serum and the occurence of eczema of infants within 6 months. The content of IL-13 in cord serum in the infants who got eczema within six months was significantly higher than the control group who did't get eczema within six months (P<0.01) while the content of TGF-P in cord serum in the infants who got eczema within six months was significantly lower than the control group who did't get eczema within six months (P<0.01). The content of IL-4 and IFN-y in cord serum of the infants with eczema within 6 months had no significant difference with the control group who did't get eczema within six months. Conclusion Infants who have eczema within six months have elevated content of IL-13 in cord serum and lower TGF-P levels in cord serum. New arrivals who have allergic family hisitory have elevated content of IL-13 in cord serum and lower TGF-P levels in cord serum. The content of IL-13 and TGF-βin cord serum of new arivals possibly have. clinical significance in predicting eczema and other allergic diseases.
