OBJECTIVES:Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) is a common disease of the digestive system. Its its incidence is on the rise. Trend of younger age of onset is increasing. It has become a serious harm to human health, therefore, this health risk requires more attention.Around the world, census of non-invasive scan tests for the healthy population census reports the incidence rate of fatty liver as 3.23%-14%; obese children 1.8% and adults 6.86%; incidence rate is higher for men than women. In some areas, NAFL has become the second largest disease after the viral liver disease. According to European and American statistics, the incidence of NAFL accounted for 10% of the average population,50% among obesity and diabetes,57.15% among alcohol drinkers. Clinical epidemiological studies showed that China's Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) incidence rate is between 5.2%-8.4%, and age of onset is becoming younger. Therefore, more attention should be paid. Although fatty liver is a begnin disease, however some cases of fatty liver can occur in patients with liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, it can be the cause of fibrosis and even cirrhosis of the precancerous lesions. Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) may also be the primary disease of the metabolic syndrome. Hence, the use of traditional Chinese medicine treatment and positive control Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) has an important significance.METHODS:Study of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China for treatment of Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) using systematic collation and analysis of literature on clinical research on Chinese medicine treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver; and highlight the importance for future clinical research to improve control level of clinical control of the diseaseData collection for the study include China's large-scale Bibliographic Database, organize publications in 1990 to 2008, relating to Chinese medicine treatment of Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), supplemented by manual search for other related studies. Data entry and analysis uses Microsoft Office Excel 2003 software. The content review of articles for various treatments and studies comparison.RESULTS:The literature includes data from the past 20 years in Chinese medicine treatment of domestic Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) diseases. The result of the literature analysis includes the following:1.Document retrieval situationIn the past 20 years, there is a total of 663 articles; including 229 articles on clinical literature,62 articles on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment.242 articles on, single herb treatment,118 articles on combined Chinese and Western treatment and 12 articles on therapeutic treatment of Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL). All the articles were screened accordance with the literature inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 15 articles qualified for review in the study.2.Literature AnalysisAnalysis on the selected 15 articles show that total effective rate for Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) treatment for more than 3 month was 83.3% 97%, average over 85%. The higher efficacy index indicate the advantage of Chinese medicine treatment.Further analysis on recovery rate for 733 cases reported in 15 articles reveal that total recovery rate was 88.4%. The total 733 cases comprised 189 fully recovered,170 good recovery,289 normal recovery and 85 non recovery cases. But the treatment of fatty liver Efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine there is a problem in some areas, mainly in the observed number of cases is too small, though not the control group or control group, but there were too few cases, choose not to appropriate control of drug problems.Frequently used of herbs are:"shan za","dang shen","chai hu","ze xie",yu jin","zhi qiao","jue min zi","da huang","fu ling","ban xia","bai shao","he shou wu". Main TCM syndrome patterns are liver stagnation/spleen weak, liver stagnation/qi stagnation, liver stagnation/blood stasis, spleen dampness, liver kidney/yin deficiency, spleen kidney/yang deficiency.3.TCM caseIn conclusion from the literature review of nearly 20 years of clinical practice in Chinese medicine treatment for Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) prove that it is one of the way to promote a reversal of fatty liver and to improve the clinical symptoms and certain effective laboratory markers. The explanation is that Chinese medicine and its compound is based on the theory from the perspective of Chinese medicine treatment of Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL).The thesis covered only those published articles on Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) in China. I hope to further study, in future to provide the basis for in-depth Meta analysis.
