Purpose: To observe clinical efficacy which treat deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis after cerebral infarction in acupuncture.Method: 55 patients who are sick with deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis after cerebral infarction were divided into two groups randomly according to the order of treatment, in which 30 cases were treated in acupuncture and the other 25 cases were in contrastive group, curative effect was observed after two periods of treatment.Results:1. The effect reveal that the patients in therapeutic group is better than the patients in contrastive group,, The effective rate of therapeutic group is 93. 3%, while it is 56% in the other.2. Acupuncture reduce incidence of complicating disease of deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis.Conclusion:1. It is good to enhance deglutition function in acupuncture that treat deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis after cerebral infarction.2. Needle therapy can reduce incidence of complicating disease of deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis, moreover, it is safe and effective to improve the quality of life of patients in use of acupuncture because patients had no significant adverse reactions and it is more efficacy in joint treatment of Western medicine.3. Deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis, which is recognized as problems by the medical profession, is one of three difficult cases of stroke. In recent years, it has reflected the traditional Chinese medicine for some of the advantages of complex diseases that there is a significant effect in acupuncture to deglutition handicap caused by supranuclear paralysis. However, for acupuncture, there are many issues which need further study and exploration.
