| Objective:Lumbar spinal stenosis is a common cause of waist and lower limb pain for older people,which is also one of the reasons leads to motor dysfunction for older people,and can seriously affect the ability to work and quality of life.More seriously,they may lead to gatism or paralyzed,etc.Operation is still acknowledged as an effective means of treatment;however,it is not suitable for patients who are unbearing the surgery or can not afford the giant tuition.The marjority of older people tend to accept the non-surgery method of treatment,and will be more glad to cooperate during the treatment,which lays the fourdation for the treatment by traditional medicine.Therefore,it is significantly to designe a completely conservative treatment for Lumbar spinal stenosis.The purpose of our research is to find a safe,convenient,consistent and effective treatment method for this disease.We sum up the past experience of use the Chinese medicine triple rule to treat Lumbar spinal stenosis,and compare past commom clinical observation,to determine the clinical effects and safety of the Chinese medicine triple rule.Methods:All the cases are from Hubei Province Chinese Medicine Hospitals,from April to October 2008.According to the standard case into the case and exclusion criteria,we select 80 cases of patients with spinal stenosis in an open,fair,random Principle. Randomly divided into the average treatment and control groups.The treatment group utilized the Chinese medicine triple rule,that is "gu bi tang",Chinese medicine Fumigation,and massage practices treatment,for four weeks.Control group utilized non-steroidal anti-imflammatory drugs nimesulide(trade names of limeisong),TPD Treatment Instrument and electro-traction massage bed,for four weeks.All cases were selected to the basic process of registration, and the patient's clinical symptoms and type of Chinese medicine syndrome score,followed by the chemical and biological inspections. Patients have to undergo treatment for four weeks,which includes a strict and regular follow-up review.After treatment on the clinical symptoms score and Evaluation,review liver and kidney function and biochemical indicators again.Follow-up time from 4 to 6 months,and we recorded and compared the recovering process of the treatment group and control group patients with spinal stenosis symptoms.The improvement of the symptoms is studied, using data SPSS 13.0 statistical software for analysis.Results:The treatment group has an efficiency of 90%,effective rate of 65%.The control group has an efficiency rate of 82.5%,effective rate of 57.5%.Judging by the significant difference,the effect of the treatment group is better than that of the control group. Efficacy of individual symptoms such as intermingle limp,waist pain,lower limb radioactive pain,the activities of the lumbar spine,skin feeling,decreased muscle strength have significant difference,indicating that treatment group is more effective.In addition,the treatment group in intermingle limp,waist pain, decreased feeling is better than the control group.Two groups of patients before and after the FIM and the VAS score comparison indicates that the treatment group is better than the control group. Regarding the safety of medicine,the treatment group also is better than the control group.However,two groups of patients with drug compared onset time,the control group is faster than the treatment group.Conclusion:Chinese medicine triple rule,that is "gu bi tang",Chinese medicine Fumigation,practices massage treatment of "gan shen kui xu" type of lumbar spinal stenosis can significantly decrease pain, limp,lower limb radioactive pain,and other typical symptoms.The overall effect is better than commonly used conservative treatment. It also is relatively safer,has less side-effects,and are more acceptable by patients.It is worthy of clinical application. However,the number of cases in this study is slightly less.To reflect accuracy and comprehensiveness of the results,there are certain limitations. |
