Chongqing Annua Quality Evaluation Studies

Qinghao is one of common used Traditional Chinese Herbs.And it was firstly recorded in《Wu Shi Er Bing Fang》.Then,it has been recorded in Chinese pharmacopoeias as dry herba of Artemisia annua L.Based on literature research,we find that the distribute of Qinghao was everywhere,but the contemporary research showed only south and low height area's plant has more content of aretemisin,especially in Guangdong,Hainan,Guangxi and Sichuan proviences.It is the first time to research the morphology and histology between Artemisia annua L.,Kochia scoparia L.)Schrsd and Artemisia capillaries Thunb.,the major identification characteristics were been found.And use the statistical method to ascertain the correlation between the content of artemisinin in glandular hair and non-glandular hair.The result of the content of artemisinin had no correlation with glandular hair and non-glandular hair in Artemisia annua L.leaves.An UV method and a HPLC method were established for determin aretemisin ation of the content of artemisinin.The UV method is more simple and quickly than HPLC method,but the result of content of artemisinin is less accurater than HPLC method.So,we determined to use HPLC method at last.Research on the content of artemisinin of different collections of leaves, we firstly research on the content of artemisinin of different part of leaves and determined the suitable collection period is between the middle of August and the last ten days in August.And research on the different proper processing techniques.Firstly studies on the chemical constituents of the essential oil of jiazhong Qinghao and wild Qinghao in Chongqing.The study provided solid and scientific proof for the further exploitation and utilization of Artemisia annua L.in Chongqing. Through experiments,we draw the draft of quality standars of raw material for Artemisia annua L..Compared with《Chinese Pharmacopoeia》2005,the content method of HPLC and morphology and histology was added, although the limitation of heavy metal,harmful element is not include formally,the experiments is under work.The study provided full scientific proof for quality control of Artemisia annua L.in Chongqing.
