Objective: Under the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) , we probe into pathogeny and syndrome patterns of Diabetes Melitus(DM), and try to find the relationship between DM and psychological disorders. To summarize orderliness of discrimination through analyzing pertinency between DM and psychological disturbances.Methods: DM group (151 cases) and control group (151 cases) which was random selected from population were interviewed by Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) and Hamilton depression scale (HAMD). A general questionnaire of TCM symptom study was given to each subject of DM. Compare the psychological disorders of the two groups , and then analyze the difference among syndrome pattern and psychological disturbance of DM group.Results: the prevalence of psychological disturbance in DM group differed significantly from that in control group. HAMD and HAMA of DM are significantly higher than that of control group. Among the DM group , the depression and anxiety score is highest.Stagnancy of liver qi has more depression and anxiety than blood blockage of the vessel's, deficiency of both Qi and Yin's, Yin Deficiency and Interior Heat , retention of dampness-heat in the Spleen' s.Both of Yin and Yang deficiency , blood stasis with water retention has more depression and anxiety than deficiency of both Qi and Yin's; Both of Yin and Yang deficiency , blood stasis with water retention has more anxiety than deficiency of both Qi and Yin's , Yin Deficiency and Interior Heat.The age of the DM group has the positive relation to the education grade, the depression has the negative relation to the anxiety.Conclusion: In TCM, the emotion has a relation to liver, Stagnancy of liver qi is an important cause of the DM, so smoothing and regulating the Qi and Xue of Liver is a principle in the prevention and treatment.
