Objective:Case studies with multiple baseline design and 3-month followed-up provide evidence for the efficacy of indiviudal cognitive-behavioral treatment for patients with social anxiety disorder.Methods:Five patients were received indiviudal cognitive-behavioral treatment respectively and completed several self-reported questionnaires,including Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90),Social Phobia Scale(SPS),Social Anxiety Scale(SIAS),Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale(FNE),SUDS and Rating severity of symptoms at pre-treatment,post-treatment and 3 month follow-up.They were treated individually for 10-12 weekly 50-60-minutes sesseions.Results:In the figures,all the multiple data about the patients's anxiety symptoms tend to decrease,and their gains were maintained at follow-up.Wilcoxon test found that the significant difference on the scores in Social Phobia Scale(SPS),Social Anxiety Scale(SIAS),Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90).The improvement was also found in SUDS and Rating severity of symptoms.All these above show that all the patients made clinically change.Conclusions:Individual cognitive-behavioral treatment has the effect on patients with social anxiety disorder;the reduction of the patients'anxiety symptom promotes the improvement of the general symptom;the patients report that the patients feel less anxiety and become less avoiding the social condition;the efficacy of individual cognitive-behavioral treatment for social anxiety disorder can be maintained.
