ObjectiveUlcerative colitis, namely chronic nonspecific ulcerativecolitis, happens mainly in and under large intestinal mucosa and the causeof such disease has not known yet. Clinical sympotoms includediarrhea, mucous bloody stool and abdominalgia, which happenrepeatedly. For the unknown cause of the disease and its pathologicprinciple, complex clinical manifestation, several complications andobstinate repeated attack, the cure of the disease is rather complex andlacks of effective curative methods. Comparatively, Chinese medicine hasrather more significant curative effect. Especially in rescentyears, using Chinese medicine to cure ulcerative colitis has made bigprogress, ln order to explain the advantage in using Chinese medicine tocure ulcerative colitis, this topic uses theprinciple of Bian Zheng LunZhi, chooses relative Chinese medicine and uses them inretention-enema, and carries on the comparision with using the lysate ofWestern medicine and normal saline to make retention-enema. The purposeis comparing the validity and the reliability in using Chinese medicineand Western medicine to cure ulcerative colitis throughretention-enema, at the same time discuss their function mechnism.MethodsThere are 86 cases totally in the experiment which were divided intotested group(43 cases)and control group(43 cases) at random. Throughstatistical analysis, patients in the two groups do not have significantdifference in age, the course and the state of thedisease(P>0.05). According to the principle Bian Zheng Lun Zhi in Chinesemedicine, the tested group was divided into Shi Re Xia Zhu group and PiShen Yang Xu group and were cured by using the method of retention-enemathrough choosing different Chinese medicine accordingly. The control group uses Western medicine. First make tablet metronidazole 200mg intomedicine power, then add smecta 3g and dissolve in normal saline 200mlwell, plus GM and uses for retention-enema. Each time for the process ofthe retention-enema lasts at least 30 minutes, twice a day, and 10 days areone course of the treatment, uses three course of the treatmentcontinuously. Make therapeutic evalution for each group after two courseof the treatment. Patients who have been cured will have retention-enemaonce two days and have a reexamination 6 months later.ResultsAfter three course of the treatment, 31 patients were fullyrecovered, 11patients got an excellent effect, only one patient didn't getany effect in the tested group. Among the control group, there were 27patients fully recovered, 12 patients got an excellent effect and 4 patientdid not get any effect. Through statistical analysis, the symtomintegration was significant different after the treatment between the twogtoups. (P<0.05)After 6 months later, the reexamination showed that 29 patients werefully recovered, 11 patients got an excellent effect, 3 recurrence washappening in the tested group; Among the control group, 21 patients werefully recovered, 10patients got an excerllent effect and 12 recurrence washappening. Conclusion:The effect of curing chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis by usingChinese medicine in retention-enema is significant, and such therapy hasits own superiority. Firstly, excellent effect can be acquired bycomplying with the principle of Bian Zheng Lun Zhi and differentdispensing of Chinese medicine. Secondly, ulcerative colitis happensmainly in and under large intestinal mucosa, through retention-enema byusing Chinese medicine can let the liquid medicine cure nidus straight-handedly, at the same time the liquid medicine can clean theintestinal tract and help recovering intestinal physiologicalmechanism, ln addition, the method of enema can avoid medicine be destroyedby gastic acid and digestive enzyme. Finally, the method of enema can beaccepted easily by patients and Chinese medicine has less toxic reactionthan Western medicine.
