Objective:In order to study the effects on proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR) induced by vitreoushemorrhage of rabbits with YanXueSan's (眼血散, YXS) whole and decomposed recipes, thisexperiment built the vitreous hemorrhage models on rabbits' pair of eyes with its' own bodyblood, infused with herbs of YXS' whole and decomposed recipes (stasis-dissipating decoction,phlegm-removing decoction), observed the change of vitreous and retina, examined thecontents ofinterleukin-1β(IL-1β),basic fibrolast growthfactor (bFGF) and interleukin-6(IL-6) in the experiment rabbits' vitreous, and observed the supper microstru- cture of Vitreousand retina, to make clear the michanism on PVR induced by vitreous hemorrhage of rabbitswith YXS, search the valid path of chinese medicine to prevent PVR.Methods:24 Japanese white rabbits with big ear were prepared, took 4 rabbits(8 eyes)ascontrol group (CON) randomly, another 20 rabbits (40 eyes) were built vitreoushemorrhage models and randomly divided into 4 groups: M, A, B and C. i.e. groupCON and M treated with distilled water, group A treated with YXS' whole recipe—stasis-dissipating and phlegm-removing (SDPR) herbs, group B treated with stasis-dissipating(SD) herbs and group C treated with phlegm-removing (PR)herbs, each 5(10 eyes). The treatment was lasted for 6 weeks, in this period, observed the turbid ofvitreous body. After 6 weeks, sentenced animals to death, sampled the vitreous fluidimmediately for examing the contents of IL-1β,bFGF and IL-6. Later, injected 10%formaldehyde liquids 0.2ml to vitreous body, and excised the eyeballs quickly,placed them in 10%formaldehyde for a week, to observe the microstructure of vitreousand retina by optical microscope.Results:①Circumstances of vitreous body and eyeground: Treatment last for a day to 2weeks, campared with group CON, vitreous hemorrhage were both significantlyobvious in group A,B and C, but campared with group M,there were no difference(p>0.05)After 4 weeks, the vitreous hemorrhage in each group started to alleviate,it was lesser in group A than in group M (p<0.05)After 6 weeks, the vitreous hemorrhage in group A, B and C were all lesser than in group M (p<0.01 orp<0.05),and it was also lesser in group A than in group B and C(p<0.01),but in groupB and C, it was no difference (p>0.05)②contents of IL-1β,bFGF and IL-6 in vitreous body: After 6 weeks, camparedwith that of group CON, IL-1β,bFGF and IL-6 contents were both Significantly higherin group M, A, B and C (p<0.01)When campared with that of group M, IL-1β,bFGFand IL-6 contents were both significantly lower in each treatment groups (p<0.01).there were also significant differences in the contents of IL-1β,bFGF and IL-6 amonggroup A and the Other two treatment groups (group B and group C), (p<0.05 or p<0.01), while there were no differnces between group B and group C.③microstructure of vitreous and retina: campared with that of group M, vitreoushemorrhage were both significantly lesser in each treatment groups, while there werealso significant differences among group A and the other two treatment groups.Conclusions:YanXueSan, the stasis-dissipating and phlegm- removing decoction, can not onlyalleviate the vitreous hemorrhage but also lower the contents of IL-1β,bFGF and IL-6 invitreous body, so it can prevent PVR induced by vitreous hemorrhage, and the most validtherapy is stasis-dissipating conjunction with phlegm-removing.
