The Traditional Qinbo Cream, Refined Qinbo Cream Plus Cooling Blood Decoction In The Treatment Of Psoriasis Clinical And Experimental Research

Objectives:①The present study was designated to investigate the effects and safety of Qingbai ointment and ultrafine Qingbai ointment, when they were used to treat blood heat syndrome of psoriasis, and to assess the improvement of the symptoms(erythema, plaque, scale and pruritus) made by these two ointments.②To investigate the influence on the mitosis of vaginal epithelium in estrogen mice, and the process of keratinization in the mouse-tails'flakes, after topical use of these two ointments.Methods:①Sixty psoriasis patients differentiated to blood heat syndrome(active stage of psoriasis vulgaris) were randomized into 3 groups: Qingbai ointments were used in group A(n=20), which were ultrafine Qingbai ointment in group B(n=20) and white Vaseline in group C(n=20). This prospective, randomized, controlled study assessed the effects and safety of Qingbai ointment and ultrafine Qingbai ointment, by calculating focal Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score, and evaluating the symptoms prior and post treatment.②Qingbai ointment, ultrafine Qingbai ointment, and white Vaseline were respectively used in the vagina of mice which were injected with estrogen and tails of normal mice.Results: After 8 weeks'treatment, the total effective rate was 70% of group A, 80% of group B, and 45% of group C. The rank sum test showed that there was no statistical significance between group A and group B, but statistical significances between Chinese herbs groups (group A and group B) and Vaseline group. And there were statistical significances between group A and group B in the 2nd, 4th, 6th week.Psoriasis patients'symptoms of erythema, plaque, scale and pruritus were notably alleviated in all of the 3 groups. Considering of scale, plaque and pruritus, there were statistical significances between Chinese herbs groups (group A and group B) and Vaseline group, none of group A and group B. But the duration of these 3 symptoms, especially pruritus, was shorter of group B than group A. No side effect was found in group B and C, but a little irritation was found in one case in group A.After HE staining, it showed that the mitosis of estrogen mouse vaginal epithelium were obviously inhibited in group A and group B, the latter were inhibited more obviously and there was statistical significance between group A and group B, while promoted in group C. The formation of the granular layers in the flakes of the mouse-tails was facilitated in Chinese herbs groups, but no statistical significance between the two groups.Conclusion: The placebo-controlled study showed that a significant effect on PASI and subjective symptoms of Qingbai ointment and ultrafine Qingbai ointment topically applied with the active stage of psoriasis vulgaris, and the latter was better. This finding is supported by the biopsy results from the open study, showing the inhabited mitosis of estrogen mouse and the facilitated formation of the granular layers in the flakes of the mouse-tails.
