Problem-based Learning (PBL) is a method that reflects the constructivist theory of learning and instruction, which formed in late 1960s for the reform of medicine education. There are many different type of deduction for PBL and many disputes about its effects on learning and instruction. It is a common understanding that PBL can motivate students to study, think deeply, and that help students to improve their ability of acquiring knowledge and solving problems, and skills of interpersonal relations. My research studies the learning method based on PBL for genetics for the students major in senior midwifery in medicine technological academy by the way of experimentation(2X2 factorial experiment design, Group Inequality Posttest Design etc.), documents analysis, questionnaires and psychology test to try to find the most suitable learning method, which is verified the application effect by considering the individual difference (cognitive style) of students, for the students.I put forward the learning method based on PLB for genetics for the students major in senior midwifery in medicine technological academy:①differentiating problems and optimizing constructions of knowledge②designing a serious of question according to students' specialty③ signing the question and making students be in the situation④confirming the foregone and unknown information to make hypothesis⑤collecting materials and sharing information⑥ designing the solutions⑦public reporting⑧self-questioning and abstracting core knowledge. Conclusions from my research is as follows:1. It can motivate students internally by the learning method based on PBL for genetics for the students major in senior midwifery in medicine technological academy2. The application effect of PLB is obviously better than general way of learning and instruction, especially in learning basic knowledge and solving problems.3. It is not obvious to find interactions between the method of instruction and cognitive style.4. Testees welcome the PLB much more than general way of learning and instruction.
