Objective To investigate the feasibility of using problem-based learning inclinical nursing teaching of obstetrical and gynecological department.Methods Choose66nursing interns who in the clinical practice of obstetrics andgynecology department of the third affiliated hospital of Guangzhou medicalUniversity from June2012to April2013. In accordance with the student ID,they aredivided into20groups at random,3~4students for1set. Then using cluster samplinga random sample of which10groups of33nursing interns into the experimentalgroup, using problem-based learning (PBL). The other10groups of33nursing internsinto the control group, using lecture-based learning (LBL). After the internship,assessment of students’ learning attitude, learning ability, comprehensive ability, andto investigate the teachers and students both sides feedback on the teaching methods.Results The students in the PBL group were significantly better than those in theLBL group in terms of examination performance, learning attitude and aptitude, andtheir feedback on the learning modes (P <0.01).Conclusion Problem-based learning may be effective in the improvement of thestudents’ learning attitude and ability, the comprehensive ability. It can provide anenvironment to promote internal learning motivation for students.
