Objective: To observe the effects of the traditional Chinese medincine (labiatae and tetramethylpyrazine ) on the residual liver function and the survival time of the rats with excessive hepatectomy.Methods: After successfully setting up the model of 90% excessive hepatectomy in rats , the mortalities after the rat's operation, the pathologic changes of the residual liver central vein and portal area with the treatment of labiatae and tetramethylpyrazine and biochemical change of blood were observed.Results: The degrees of injury of the residual liver with the treatment of labiatae and tetramethylpyrazine were decreased , without decreasing the morality of the experiment animol.Conclusion: The injury of the early residual liver cell after the injection of labiatae and tetramethylpyrazine can be lightened. These medicines can not promote the residual liver cell's regeneration and prolong the survive time after excessive hepatectomy.
