Objectives: To explore the changes of endothelin-1 (ET-1)and procalcitonin(PCT) in seudm , expression of endothelin-1 in lung , and the therapeutic effects of labiatae on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP)with lung injury in rats .Methodes: A total of 60 Wistar rats were randomized into sham operation group(J),model group(F), labiatae treatment group(D).The model of SAP was established by recessive injection of 5% sodium taurocholate into the pancreatic biliary tract. The levels of endothelin-1 and procalcitonin in plasma, expression of endothelin-1 in lung were evaluated at 24h and 48h after model had made, meanwhile , the pathological changes of lung and pancreas , lung index were observed. Results: Comparing with sham operation group, the pathological changes of lung and pancreas in model group were significantly aggravated, the levels of endothelin-1 and procalcitonin in serum and lung index were increased significantly (P<0.01),the expression of endothelin-1 in lung was elevated(P<0.01).Contrast with model group , the pathological changes of lung and pancreas in labiatae treatment group were alleviated , the levels of endothelin-1 and procalcitonin in serum and lung index were notably droped(P<0.05),expression of endothelin-1 in lung was decreased(P<0.01).The serum procalcitonin of F48h group were significantly higher than F24h group(P<0.01),but the difference of endothelin-1between two group was not appreciate.Conclusion:1. Endothelin-1 may play an important role in lung injury following SAP.2. PCT was significantly correlated with the damage degree of pancreas and lung in SAP.3. In SAP rat, labiatae can alleviate the pathological detriments of pancreas and lung, can reduce the levels of endothelin-1 in serum, and is beneficial to lung injury.
