Objective: To investigate the difference of retinal microcirculation blood flow in preclinical diabetic retinopathy and nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. Methods: The scanning laser Doppler retinal flow meter (Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) was used to measure retinal microcirculation blood flow of 80 eyes of 42 patients with type 2 diabetes, which composed by 42 eyes of 22 patients with preclinical diabetic retinopathy(group A) and 38 eyes 20 patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy(group B). The three parameters of the microcirculation blood flow in the six areas , which are inferior temporal juxtapapillary retina, the macula, nasal retina of the macula, temporal retina of the macula, superior retina of the macula, inferior retina of the macula, were recorded respectively. Results: The independent samples t tests showed that the differences were statistically significant for flow (P<0.05) and velocity (P<0.05) in inferior temporal juxtapapillary retina. There were highly statistical significance of differences for volume (P<0.01), flow (P<0.01) and velocity (P<0.01) in the macula. The differences were statistically significant for flow (P<0.05) and velocity (P<0.05) in nasal retina of the macula. There were no statistical significance of differences for volume (P>0.05), flow (P>0.05) and velocity (P>0.05) in temporal retina of the macula. The difference was statistically significant for flow (P<0.05) in superior retina of the macula. There were statistical significance of differences for flow (P<0.05) and velocity (P<0.05) in inferior retina of the macula. The differences were highly statistically significant for average flow (P<0.01) and velocity (P<0.01) in the screened retina. After matching t-test, there were highly statistical significance of differences for the three parameters (P<0.01) in nasal and temporal retina of the macula of group A. There were statistical significance of differences for flow (P<0.05) and velocity (P<0.05) in nasal and inferior retina of the macula of group A. There...
