Clinical Research. Cut The Virtual Hang Drainage In The Treatment Of Ischial Rectal Space Abscess

Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the clinical results obtained with the cutting seton and the loose seton in the surgical management of ischiorectal abscess. Method: The case records of 29 patients with ischiorectal abscess caused by cryptoglandular infecting were treated with cutting seton (n=15) or loose seton(n=14) .There was no difference between the groups in age, sex distribution, or Follow-up was by call questionnaire inquiring about abscess recurrence, incontinence, general curative effect, anal deformation and the healing time . Mean follow-up was similar in both groups. Comparisons were made by Student t and X~2 tests, as required. Results: There was no difference in the general curative effect, healing time, recurrence and secondary fistula. But complications such as cicatrical deformity , underwear staining and difficulty holding gas of two groups showed marked difference.Concludes: Both techniques are equally effective in eradicating the abscess, the anal function are protected better with loose seton technique.
