Objective: to improve an operative way to treat posterior elevation abscess of horseshoe shape around the anorectum. Method: 60 patients suffering from posterior elevation abscess of horseshoe shape around the anorectum were divided into two groups-the observing group and the control group randomly with either group having 30 cases. Putting-aside hanging line drainage was used in the observing group while hanging line drainage by multiple incisions of radian shape was used in the control group. The healing rates, sequela after healing, healing time, quantity of scars and degree of pain when changing dress in the two groups were observed and compared. Result: 30 cases in the observing group were cured with treating once after 3 months to 2 years follow-up which showed a healing rate of 100% while a healing rate of 93.33% was showed in the control group after treating once. The healing time of the observing group was 31.67 ?.41 days while that of the control group was 35.80+3.46 days. As for the sequela after healing, 1 case in the observing group had wet feeling around the anus and sensory incontinence while the control group had 4 such cases. The patients in the observing group had lighter pain in dressing change and fewer scars when compared with the control group. Conclusion: The operative way used in the observing group, which should be popularized, had advantages over that of the control group.
