| The purpose of this thesis was to study the essence of the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome and the therapeutic mechanism and effect features of Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan . Under the guide of TCM theories, planning treatment according to differential diagnosis and treating different diseases with the same therapeutic principle, the observation on the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome patients treated with Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan , combining macroscopic TCM syndrome differentiation-type with microcosmic changes of substances, was carried out from the aspects of symptomatology, immunology, biochemistry and others.Based on "Clinic terminolgy of traditional Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment syndromes", also, in accordance with " Diagnostics of TCM", "Diagnostics and therapeutics of syndromes of TCM" and the pertinent ancient and modern documents, the symptomatic diagnostic standard of the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome was established. Sixty-eight patients of the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome were entered into this study and diagnosed by the standard of syndrome differentiation respectively in the Department of TCM, the Beijing Railway General Hospital. All the patients were treated with Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan in a dose of 25 pills twice daily for a period of one month. The observation of clinical symptoms and laboratory tests were performed and recorded before and after the treatment respectively. The results showed that all the two key clinical symptoms and eight subordinate clinical symptoms improved variously after the treatment, including aversion to cold, cold limbs, weakness of the waist and the knees, mental fatigue, shortness of breath and asthma, sexual hypoactivities, frequent micturition at night, edema, vertigo, tinnitus or deaf and diarrhoea. The Compared with the conditions before therapy, the improvement of most specific symptoms demonstrated extraodinarily statistically significant differences (PO.01). Among the results of laboratory tests, fifty percent hemolytic unit of complement (CHso) and cortisol (Cort) were increased than those of pre-treatment , showing extraodinarily statistically significant differences (PO.01). And complement component-3 (C3), complement component-4 (C4), CD3+ T lymphocyte (CD3+), CD4+ T lymphocyte (CD4+), the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ (CD4+/CD8+), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), estradiol (?), testosterone (T), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were increased than those of pre-treatment , showing significant differences (P<0.05). As to cholesterol (CHOL) , triglyceride (TRIG), low-densitylipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and blood glucose (Glu) ,the levels of post-treatment were lower than those of pre-treatment, showing significant differences (P<0.05). In this research , the laboratory tests which showed significant differences can help to diagnose the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome, furthermore, those can help to judge the treatment result.The clinical improvement of those patients and the changes of laboratory results after treatment, and review of the pertinent documents, suggest that Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan regulates a series of symptoms and affects the microcosmic metabolism of substances. Its characteristics of action is multiple-systems , multiple-links and multiple-targets. Thus, this study underlies the further investigation on the essence of the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome and mechanism of Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan . It is concluded that:1. The Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome is a disequilibrium state of the body involving multiple systems and miscellaneous diseases, microcosmic manifesting as disorders of neuro-endocrine-immunity network and substance metabolism, with special biological basis. However, which of them plays the leading role, or which one is subordinate in the process of the Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan syndrome, still need further investigation.2.
