Candidal Vaginitis , known as a common gynecological disease caused by monilia infection ,is clinically one of the most frequently infective diseases in gynecology concerning it's treatment, besides the ordinary western drug to be intaken (current routine usually including Fluconazole, Ketoconazole) and the external use of anti-fungus preparations, more and more clinical doctors intend to use traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment. This disease is generally defined to the range of "YinYang"(itchy vagina) and "DaiXia"(leuKorrhea) in TCM, which is attributed to insect erosion and damp-heat retention in lower heater where accumulated damp can consequently transform to insect. Current ideas on etiology, therefore, concentrate major on the insect erosion and damp-heat accumulation. External therapy plays a key role in treating candidal vaginits, as an important supplement to internal therapy. The invention of "XiangHe stick"has been always in a continuous progress during years of our work on special "itchy vagina"clinic in our hospital. It is an innovative external-used preparation, standing out in treating candidal vaginitis which displays a nature of damp heat-cleaning, insect-killing and itch-relieving. 93 cases of candidal vaginitis with complete and detailed data were collected in the hospital's Special Clinic from 5,1999 to 3,2000,totally with a differentiation of damp-heat in liver meridian in TCM Randomedly they were assigned to "XiangHe stick"treating group of 51 cases and Daktarin control group of 42 cases, through clinical observation , releasing or missing of symptoms such as itchy vagina , changes in color, quality and odour of leukorrhea, frequent and painful uriue , coitus pain, 3 were objectively recorded before and after the treatment along with the vaginal smear examinations for manilia and vaginal cleanness. In addition , the allergic reaction on vaginal mucosa and other side effect from the medication were also supervised.
