Purpose: By observing glucocorticoid in the treatment of acute idiopathic facial palsy, to guide clinical practices, treatment of the disease. Methods: Take randomized method to collect the patients who were first diagnosed with idiopathic facial palsy .Randomly divided into three groups. Group A with 54 patients and Group B with 33 patients were treated with glucocorticoid .Group C with 31 patients were treated with non-glucocorticoid. Three groups were all treated with Vitamin B1, mecobalamin tablets, TDP and acupuncture, the patients who had virus were given Aciclovir Dispersible Tablets. The patients of Group A were given Prednisone Acetate Tablets ,usage for: dose 30mg/d, one times perday continuous oral 5 days, then in 7 to 10 days, and gradually reduction to withdrawal .The patients of Group B were given Prednisone Acetate Tablets ,usage for: dose 20mg/d, one times perday continuous oral 5 days, then in 7 to 10 days, and gradually reduction to withdrawal . Three groups were continuous treated for 30 days. The results of three groups were evaluated according to Portmann's Simple Scale.Result: After treatment, the score of Group A was 19.24±0.845,Group B was 19.17±0.937,Group C was 11.87±6.015. Score of the function of facial muscles obtained from both Group A and Group B were distinctly higher than that from Group C,as well as the improvement index(P~c﹤0.05,P~b﹤0.05),the score and the improvement index of Group A and Group B were nearly the same(P~a﹥0.05).Group A: cure rate was 72.2%, markedly effective rate was 18.5%, improved was 9.3%, invalid 0, the effective rate was 90.7%; Group B: cure rate was 72.7%,markedly effective rate was 18.2%,improved 9.1%,invalid 0,the effective rate was 90.9%;Group C: cure rate was 48.4%, markedly effective rate was 16.1%, improved was 29.0 %, 6.5% is not valid, the effective rate was 64.5%.The effective rate of Group A and Group B were higher than that of Group C (~cP﹤0.05,~bP﹤0.05),the effective rate of Group A and Group B were nearly the same(~aP﹥0.05). Conclusion:1 Treatment of acute idiopathic facial palsy with glucocorticoid improve the efficacy.2 Glucocorticoid is one of conventional treatment of acute diopathic facial palsy , when patients with no clinical contraindications, the clinical application of glucocorticoids is necessary ,to achieve clinical practices, treatment of the disease.3 In the treatment of acute idiopathic facial palsy, the use of glucocorticoids can reduce the dosage, optimizing therapies.
