Purpose: Clinical researched by treatment of the two groups:treatment group( Shao Yang meridians acupoint selection method that depends on Yi Feng and Wan Gu) and control group(utilizing by conventional acupuncture),aim to compare the scores of facial paralysis, the grade of House-Brachmann(H-B),the scores of the VAS that evaluate the pain in post- ear, clinical effects of the two groups patients for Wind-heat type of Bell’s Palsy acute phase, observe and evaluate treatment effect between these two therapy, thus provide a reference for optimization of clinical treatment. Methods: Selected 60 cases of wind-heat type BP patients with in acute phase were accordance with the inclusion criteria, adopt the randomize control method, divided into the Treatment group(Shao Yang meridians acupoint selection method that depends on Yi Feng and Wan Gu) and the control group(by conventional acupuncture). About the improvement of facial, the treatment effectiveness in both groups were evaluated four times: prophase(treated day), at 7 times, 14 times, 21 times after treatment, judged by the change of the House-Brachmann(H-B) facial nerve function classification and the improvement of the facial injury scores for clinical observation index. About the pain in post-ear the two were evaluated three times: prophase(treated day), at 3 times, 7 times after treatment, judged by the change of the scores of the VAS.Results:1. Before treatment, compared the two groups of patients in age, duration of disease, facial injury score, H-B classification and disease stage and the scores of VAS thatevaluate the pain in post-ear, and there was no significant difference(P> 0.05) and comparable.2. Acute phase( during 14 days)2.1 The scores of VAS that evaluate the pain of ear.(1) At 3 times after treatment, two groups of patients with the scores of VAS compared with each other, there was no statistically significance(P> 0.05)to indicate the index of improving the scores of VAS that evaluate the pain in post-ear between the treatment group and the control group which had no significant difference.(2) At 7 times after treatment, two groups of patients with the scores of VAS compared with each other, there was a difference(P <0.05)to indicate that he Improvement of the scores of VAS that evaluate pain in post-ear of the treatment group better than the control group.2.2 The grades of H-B and the scores of facial(1) At 7 times after treatment, each group compared with itself, there was significant difference(P <0.01)compared with no treated to indicate that two kinds of treatment have effective.(2) At 7 times after treatment, two groups of patients with the grades of H-B,the scores of facial and the curative effect, there was no statistically significance(P> 0.05)to show the index of improving HB classification, Facial symptom score and curative effect between the treatment group and the control group which had no significant difference.3. Recovery phase(14 days later)(1) At 14 times after treatment, there was a difference between two groups with facial symptom score(P <0.05) to indicate that the improvement of facial injury severity score of the treatment group dramaticlly better than the control group.(2) At 14 times after treatment, two groups of patients with the grades of H-B and the curative effect, there was no statistically significance(P> 0.05) to show the index of improving HB classification and curative effect between the treatment group and the control group which had no significant difference.(3) At 21 times after treatment, facial symptom scores and the the grades of H-B and the curative effect, there was a statistically significance(P <0.01) to indicate that the improvement of facial injury severity score, the grades of H-B of the treatment group dramaticlly better than the control group.(4) Comparing curative effect at 21 times being treatment:The treatment group:24(80.0%) cases were cured, obvious effect in 6 cases, ineffect in 0 case, 100%obvious curative rate; control group:16 cases(53.33%) were cured, obvious effect in9 cases, effect in 5 cases. P< 0.01, there is significant differences, indicating that the curative effect of the treatment group is better than the control group.Data analysis: At 7 times after the treatment, facial symptom score, the grades of H-B of both groups of patients were no difference, but the scores of VAS have a difference, indicate that the improvement of the pain in post- ear treatment group are better than the control group. At 14 times after the treatment, the facial symptom score of two group have a difference, but the grades of H-B were no difference. At 21 times after the treatment, the treatment, facial symptom score, the grades of H-B of both groups of patients were a difference, we can make a conclusion :(1)Although the difference of two group’s treatment is at the acute phase, the effect were displayed at the recovery phase(14 days later):the facial symptom score appear at the first time, but the grades of H-B appear at 21 times after treatment;(2)At 21 times after treatment, the facial symptom score of the two groups have a difference, but the grades of H-B were not.The cause of this is the H-B classification simpler than the scores of facial. Conclusion : The study shows that the method based on Shao Yang meridians acupoint selection method that depends on Yi Feng and Wan Gu was more effective than the conventional group, is the best therapeutic method for Wind-heat type of Bell’s Palsy acute phase which tend to infected by virus. On the other hand, it is a positive role for the patient who’s pain in post-ear that we use Yi Feng and Wan Gu in the acute phase, and is better than conventional group. Although we adopt this method in acute phase, the the effect displayed at the recovery phase, and it is useful for the whole Bell’s Palsy.
