A R & D Project Management Research

Paper describes skills collected from practical experience by author as a project manager in R&D department in corporate A. It briefly mentioned four topics of project management area which are "Purchase and Provider Management", "Engineer's Character and Task Assignment", "Risk Management" and "Defect Management and RCA". From a negative instance, it analyses problems in old process of purchase and provider management, then it finds out further reason from view of organization. It also gives out a simple but efficient process to help to handle these issues. For topic of engineer character, it begins with a failed task and finds some relationship between engineer character and task assignment. Furthermore, a new procedure named "character factors 360 degree Evaluation" is introduced to build engineer character model which can be used as a important factor in task assignment. At risk management area, after explained shortage in old process, it develops new efficient one based on knowledge skeleton of ISO, CMMI and PMBOK, and emphasizes usage of RBS and risk register. For defect handling, paper introduces RCA procedure which is suggested to be used for researching into the root causes of critical defect. RCA avoids repeating defects all the time and improves quality of products and services thoroughly.
