Qingdao City Health Human Capital On Economic Growth

"It is the goal of our party and nation and the fundamental interest of people of all nationalities to build well-off society completely. Health, related to tens of thousands of households, is the basis of human comprehensive development and the advance of our society", the 17th Congress of Communist Party of China said. Therefore, it is meaningful to study the contribution of health to economic development. It is very important for human capital to promote the economic growth. Education and health are important parts of human capital. However, many researchers take human capital only equivalent to education. Education-centered theory of human capital has formed. But there is relatively less study on health human capital.Since reform and opening up, the economy in Qingdao City has kept a sustained, rapid growth, for which health human capital is very important. Qingdao city is taken as the object of study in this paper. The qualitative and quantitative analysis, normative and empirical analysis are used. On the basis of health human capital theory, we do the research as follows: First of all, the contribution system and the impact way of health human capital to economic growth are analyzed in detail. Second, an ordinal health index is built to measure health human capital. The impact made by health human capital and its determinants on economic growth is analyzed by the production function and regression analysis method. It is the result that the impact has hysteresis. The flexibility of health index to economic growth is up to 0.14 when the hysteresis time is three years. In the three determinants, the life style and health service have positive impact on economic growth and it also has hysteresis. However, the environment has no remarkable impact on economic growth. Finally, based on the status quo of health human capital and economic growth, some policy steps are followed in this paper in order to increase investment on health human capital. Health human capital, investment on it and investment on health service should be attached importance to. The government should increase the investment of health. The medical security and pension security system of Qingdao should be established and improved. The health awareness should be enhanced. The field of health service should be broadened.
