Analysis Of The Social Responsibility Of Scientists

The 20^th century is an era when science and technology developed rapidly. A series of important scientific achievements came out in succession and changed great human society's appearance. Scientific technology released huge social function as"the first productivity".However, the scientific technology just like a"double-edged sword", bring benefit to our mankind, at the same time, they produced tremendous influence and unpredictable impact on society. When the people are enjoying welfare scientific technology bring, they begin to make systematic reflection on these special and important scientific community activities. Because scientists as the main body of scientific research activity hold the specialized knowledge and the foresee ability that other people have not to the application prospect of scientific knowledge, in the moment the scientist's social responsibility appears especially important.This paper researchs and debates scientist's social responsibility based mainly on the history of science and technology and the ethnics of science and technology, setting out from the dual perspectives of the scientist and the society, adopting the method integrating theory argumentation with example analyses.This article is divided into five chapters to discuss the question of scientist's social responsibility:The first chapter will research the background, the significance and the present situation.The second chapter analyzes the responsibility, the responsibility and the purpose, and inspects the scientist, scientist's formation, the development and the content of scientist's social responsibility.The third chapter is mainly based on the history of science, from scientific inside (scientist and science-self) and scientific outside (society) to analyze the factors that influence scientists to undertake social responsibility.The forth chapter is to solve the scientists how to undertake better the social responsibility. First, two aspects from inside (value thinking) and outside (social standard) to illustrate the bases that scientists undertake the social responsibility, and two aspects from scientist individual and colony to open out behavior choice, and scientist individual and colony on undertaking social responsibility side must have the basic behavior standards.The fifth chapter discusses from three aspects that external aspects should play functions on the question of scientists how to undertake the social responsibility. First, we should stipulate the behaviors of the scientist's scientific research by enhancing the legislation of science and technology and perfecting moral behaviors of scientific research. Secondly, we should enhance the scientist's ethical moral quality by ethical moral education. Thirdly, we should create good social atmosphere for scientist's scientific research in politics, economy and culture.
