Government's Role In The Development Of Rural Tourism Research

To develop rural tourism is an effective way for the farmers to cast off poverty and become prosperous, which is of great significance in building a new socialist countryside. However, in recent years, the development of rural tourism is no cause for optimism, as after several years' rapid development, the amount of the customers has reduced and the efficiency decreased. The reason first lies in the inherent weak nature of the farmer operation, and then the lack of relevant government functions. The lack of relevant government displays not to reach targeting of overall planning and governance. Ankang City in Shanxi Province is one of the first regions to develop rural tourism, so taking Farm Tourism (the basic form of rural tourism in Ankang City for the present stage) as an example to study the position and role of the government in rural tourism is of great immediate significance.Under the theory of "market failure" and "Public Governance" and with the combination of questionnaire survey and "SWOT" analysis, this paper makes an analysis on the current development situation and existing problems of Farm Tourism in Ankang City. Taking the ideas of playing out advantages, making up for weaknesses, seizing opportunities and meeting challenges in to account, the government is advised to play its due role in eight aspects as rational planning, exploring deposits, forging brands, personnel training, giving special assistance, promotion and introduction; supporting associations, law-based management.
