Small And Medium Software Enterprise Software Development Project Management Application

Nowadays the scale of software has become larger and larger, and the software development projects are now facing many complicated problems. To solve these problems, mid/min software enterprises are actively introducing software development project management (SDPM) into the development activities. However, the lack of capital, underestimate of workload, shortage of skilled developers and other problems such as the aptitude of developers, delivery date, technological difficulty and client collaboration, are troubling the mid/min software enterprises. It has become a more and more important question how the concept of SDPM should be adopted to guide software development.The thesis first surveys the current status of China's software industry and then points out problems existing in the SDPM of mid/min software enterprises in China by analyzing the characteristics of China's mid/min software enterprises and the uniqueness of software development. After explaining the basic ideas of project management, it gives an analysis on how to use project management concept in guiding the whole process of software development, mainly focusing on four aspects, namely the functions of SDPM, its key points, organizational design and division of roles, milestone and check points. Next in accordance with ISO9000 and CMM principles, it performs an application analysis on the project management of mid/min software enterprises, examines the advantages and disadvantages of introducing project management ideas into the software development projects of mid/min software enterprises in China, discusses how to utilize project management concept in a flexible way and puts forwards the principles in designing the management flow for software development in light of the concrete conditions of the enterprises. A case study follows on the management flow of software development projects of one software company, which further explores the practical way to implement the project management ideas in software development. In the end, the thesis puts forth the principles that should be followed in carrying out software projects.
