Research On Competitiveness Of Ningbo-zhou Shan Port

The Yangtze River Delta becomes a core region of international container transport when the world's shipping center is shifted from the Atlantic to the Pacific. During the development of container ports in The Yangtze River Delta, the competition of this area will be more and more explosive. As a main and important port in China, Ningbo-Zhou Shan port becomes to play a more and more important role in national economy and social development. the size and construction get substantial progress. The container throughput arrives at 10 846 thousand TEU in 2008, so Ningbo-Zhou Shan port has a seat in the ten most important port in the world.In this thesis a definition of competitive power of port enterprises is presented and features as well as the origins of port enterprises' competitive power are shown based on elementary concept as well as operational practice of the port and with the help of theories of competitive power. The cause and level of competitive power of port are analyzed in this thesis. After analysis all the method of research on competitiveness of port, AHP is chosen as the main method. Meantime, expert investigation and fuzzy matrix are also used.In practice, under the guidance of the systematic, authenticity, availability, three Indicators are built in Layer Guidelines and ten Indicators are built in Program Layer. Especially the impact of Global Financial Crisis for Port Industry is considered, we introduce the Indicator of anti-financial Risk capacity. Then questionnaires are released to port planning experts and professors, getting the weights of individual indicators and the scoring of port after using AHP method. At last, I calculate Ningbo-Zhou Shan Port's comprehensive competitiveness of the integrated weighted score and the score is 4.36 and it ranges between 4 to 5 ,this also illustrates that Ningbo - Zhou Shan Port has highly competitive and has greater competitive on the hardware facilities.Finally, a strategy has been developed and some suggestions have been made for Ningbo - Zhou Shan Port in this thesis. What contributions have been made in this thesis will help the port lead to a competitive advantage and may set up a decision-making reference to enterprises alike.
