Optical fiber communication technology emerged from the optical communication and has become one of the main pillars of modern communications. It is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending light through an optical fiber. Recently, optical fiber communication technology has made great progress. Optical fiber communication has constantly being exploring new technologies in order to greatly enhancing communications capabilities in the traditional sense. These also make the optical fiber communication technology to be applied in a broader context.Deployment of optical communication systems is costly and reconfiguration is in some cases impossible or uneconomical, therefore the experiments and simulation of systems become necessity in predicting and optimizing system performance.This thesis highlights on the implementing experiments of the basic technologies in fiber optic communication system like Wavelength Division Multiplexing, Duobinary Modulation, Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier and Dispersion Compensation Fiber by using OptiSystem software. We analyzed the simulation results for each technology at the best development level. By comparing with the basic functions of the technologies, our simulation results proved that OptiSystem model has the ability to achieve the best function for each technology.We found this software could plays a key role in reducing the cost on one hand, on the other hand it will also increase the proper understanding of a mechanism action for each optical communication component. This provides more freedom to explore design parameters than analytic calculations and physical experiments, thus allowing students to develop an intuitive understanding of the optical fiber communication systems in a rapid way.
