The coming of Software Defined Radio (SDR) redefines the way to implement trans-mitter. With the theory getting more matured and completed, SDR technology has been widely used all kinds off civil and military wireless communication systems. Accordingly, digital Up-Convert (DUC), one of the core technologies used by SDR transmitter, is also getting more and more extensive application.This thesis makes a study of the design of Digital Up-converter (DUC) based on Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA).First, the theoretical foundation of Intermediate Frequency (IF) digital technology, presented the components of an ideal Software Defined Radio(SDR), analysised that currently high-speed Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and high-speed Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) are the bottleneck of the desired SDR. As a transitional phase of the SDR, DUC can be used to achieve the frequency band information processing tasks. Then, outside the mainstream of current Digital Up-Conversion product design ideas and technical details, and in accordance with the characteristics of FPGA devices in the traditional structure of the Digital Up-Conversion on the basis of the structure of the system improvements, achieved in the design, the use of the polyphase filter structure and distributed algorithms, and basic improvements to enhance the digital processing speed of the inverter. Finally, the design uses the DE2 experiment development board to the Cycloneâ…¡as the core of Altera Corporation as a hardware implementation, Completed include:(1) of the research on the basic theory and correlation algorithm of digital up-conversion technology and to improve the algorithm; (2) the design of each functional module and the corresponding software development; (3) software simulation of the various functional modules and FPGA realization; (4) of the Digital Up-Conversion design and FPGA implementation and perf-ormance optimization. Tests of designed for Digital Up-Conversion's basic functional shows that:the design objectives have achieved.
