During the past few years, mines disasters occurs frequently at home and abroad, which has been attached enough importance by parties. However, as the mine's condition and environment is very hard and complex, search and rescue work is very difficult. In that case, if it can follow the idiographic position of mining personnel instantly, we may make measures in order to decrease the frequency of mines disasters obviously. This paper has designed a kind of the orientation system of the mining personnel based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) as a hardware design plan, which includes the functions of attendance management, safety control and production scheduling. Comparing with the other orientation systems, this one has advantages of low mistake code rate, simple structure and low cost, which is very useful for reality.Firstly, this paper introduces the practical significance of this project and then gives the definition of RFID technology comparing with the other ways of short distance wireless communication. After that, it shows the development situation of RFID technology at home and abroad and gives my own practical suggestions to this project considering advanced design plan of the orientation system of the mining personnel at home and abroad.Secondly, this paper includes the whole system's structure chart briefly and shows the basic working principle of the whole orientation system for each part of the hardware. It displays the work to finish the whole design and the work which this paper should finish. And then shows the design plan of communication technology which includes the communication design of wired surface part and wireless underground part. It can be the solid foundation to the design of hardware in details.Thirdly, this paper shows the structures of hardware design of the system in details based on the last few chapters, which includes:radio frequency card, radio frequency reader and radio frequency reader base. And then introduces the core communication radio frequency chip CC1000, main controller MCU ATmega88, MCU AT89C51 and double-ports RAM chip—IDT7142SA/LA in details.At last, this paper makes a summary of the hardware design plan of the whole orientation system of the mining personnel and shows the new methods of the design for this paper. And then sums up the work foreground and the shortage during the work and put forward the project's improvement opinion.
