Embedded network video monitor system is a new kind of video monitor system based on embedded system technology, video coding technology and network technology. It has many advantages compared to the old video monitor system, such as stability, real time, performance, functions and price etc.So, it is the direction of the research and development in video monitor system.The paper introduces such an embedded network video monitor system: It takes the SoPC as the design method, the Nios II softcore as the embedded microprocessor, the Cyclone II EP2C35 FPGA as the hardware bench. We have ported the uClinux to the FPGA, designed the related drivers and applications, finally built such a small but wonderful monitoring server. The clients can watch the video and pictures that are captured by the server's camera by browsers. It uses the SOPC technology, combines the CPU, memory and other devices to one IC . So it can not only improve the capability, but also improve the integration .The first chapter introduces the development and actuality of the network video monitoring system, the video coding technology, the paper's origin and the main research content . The second chapter introduces the SoPC design method ,the system theory, the hardware development bench and the software development environment. The third chapter introduces the system hardware design, including the design of the user defined components, the flow of building Nios II system, and how to compile and program the system. The fourth chapter firstly introduces the design of the ISP1362's driver, including the USB communication's basic knowledge, the ISP1362's firmware design and the driver design; next it introduces the uClinux and the flow of porting it to the FPGA ;finally it introduces the video server W3CAM's design, including the V4L's basic knowledge and the W3CAM's programming. The fifth chapter tests the system and draws a conclusion, analyses the main research content, points the shortcomings and brings forward some new schemes..
