In recent years, with the more and more attention to the monitoring on water enviroment which people have payed, the monitoring devices on the water are more and more important.In the paper, the writer analyzes the current situation about the development and the use of the monitoring devices in both home and abroad, and proposes a project of a kind of monitoring device on the water enviroment based on the MODBUS protocol and the PROFIBUS protocol.The project belongs to the key Science and Technology Project in 2006 of Jiangsu Province.In the paper, with the water environment as the monitoring object, the writer introduces a development program about a monitoring device based on the PROFIBUS-DP protocol and the MODBUS protocol,with the detailed introduction about the hardware design and the software development.The development of the device mainly includes two parts: the intelligent detecting instrument and the communication.The development about the intelligent detecting instrument with some periphery equipments which makes the C8051F020 single chip as the microprocessor, is mainly used for real-time detection of some related parameters in the water environment and some correlative managements.The development about the communication part is mainly about the development of communication by the PROFIBUS protocol and the MODBUS protocol.By the MODBUS protocol,the embedded intelligent detecting instrumentation,which is configued as a slave station,constitutes a monitoring system with a remote master station.In the master station,the monitoring software,which is developed with VC6.0 ,owns many functions,such as parameter settings,real-time data gathering,limited parameter alarming, database function and so on. While the PROFIBUS-DP communication with the intelligent detecting instrumentation and the PROFIBUS-DP communication interface module together the writer developes constitute a PROFIBUS-DP Intelligent slave station,it buildes a communication network with the master station. The writer takes the action using communication chip SPC3+C8051F020 microprocessor develop the PROFIBUS-DP communication interface module.In the monitoring device tests in water environment,the monitoring device with the operation stability,the simple operation and the fluid communication with the master station can achieve real-time monitoring of environmental parameters. The device can be used for environmental monitoring,water aquaculture,and many other fields. Compared to the similar products,the device is simple,cost-effective. The device has a broad application prospect.
