Barcode is a kind of image, which is build up by black bars and white spaces, and obeys some rules to indicate data information. Barcode technology has been used widely in many fields. With the growth of information technology and modern management, the important of barcode using is increasing by days.Nowadays, the suppliers of civil barcode application are mostly overseas company. To satisfy the local requirement of barcode reader, the local developing of such equipment is very important.In this project, a barcode read system is designed, which is made by focus system, lighting system, digital image gathering system, image processing and communication system. The major work is as followed.(1) Based on the analysis of similar product, the system performance characteristics and structure are exported. Studied the hardware design program in detail. Designed the hardware schematics.(2) In the block of image gathering, connected FPGA and ping-pang RAM to accomplished data buffer. And optimized switch logic to ensure the requirement of decode timing and hi-speed data transfer.(3) Designed image processing algorthim, including image pre-processing, barcode locating. And designed decode subroutine according to ISO stardand. Finally optimized the whole algorthim on hardware platform. Imporoved the efficiency of program and ensured the system runtime.
