Investigation Of Chinaunicom's Broadband Access Network Upgrade

Broadband network is an important infrastructure and strategic resources of national informatization, and is the basis and the key of social informatization. To strengthen the broadband network construction will support the development of 3G mobile broadband and the fixed broadband business effectively. Broadband access network, the most important part of the broadband network, is vital to broadband business development. In order to meet the future needs of broadband mobile internet business development, and to make broadband access network construction conforming to the standard, inevitably we will be required to further develop the broadband access network, and then promote the project of broadband access network speed up in the round.Broadband access network construction is a long-term work, which must be planned unitedly, emphasized the amount and the quality simultaneity, promoted in a planned step manner, on gradual step by step. Broadband access network covers a wide range, with complex technology and huge investment. In order to effectively meet the needs of business development, to avoid repeated transformation, broadband access network construction should meet the business needs during 3-5 years, and then moderately, build ahead. Broadband Access Network-building, on the basis of fractionizing the business development needs and a comprehensive verification of resource, should develop a scientific rational building-program according to the development needs and status of network resources, and at last, improving investment returns. Business investment should give priority to the key areas and cities in businesses. The construction of broadband access network should make full use of existing network resources, and give full play to the synergies existing resources. Broadband access network construction also should take full account of the regional business development, the different network resources and the capacity of investment. According to business needs, priorities and local conditions, the development strategy and construction models should be diversity. The equipment of access network should have good scalability, smooth evolution and maintainability, which can be smooth to the next generation network evolution.The main content of this research project involves the following three aspects:First, analyse Xiamen Unicorn's existing broadband access network to identify the factors constraining broadband speed, and ascertain the technical constraints to upgrading existing network; Second, in meeting the needs of business development and the cost-control requirements from corporate, combining Xiamen Unicom's existing resources, study and formulate Xiamen Unicom broadband access network upgrading-accelerating program, namely, Xiamen Unicom broadband access network will introduce PON technologies to enhance the business needs of accelerating the access speed; Third, study the technical details of forming PON in broadband access network, and develop the implementary specifications.
