With the development of Internet services, users propose for increasing bandwidth eagely. Wireless LAN (WLAN) is one of convenient manners in Internet access, whose transmission rate has been made a great progress. IEEE 802.11n has provided data rates on physical layer up to 600Mbps, but backward compatibility characteristics of the protocol brought some problems about quality protection of the co-existence of wireless communication environment.In this paper, we analyzed on communication protection mechanism on the coexistence of multiple wireless network from theoretical analysis and practical application two aspects. The main content is divided into two parts. On the one hand, applications of the improvement of MAC layer and related technologies on solving coexistence problems are researched. On the other hand, we proposed two implementations for 802.11n protection mechanism, and made comparison between these two kinds of programs.We did three tasks on theoretical analysis. Firstly, we analyzed and compared the impact on communication efficiency brought by three protection modes:RTS/CTS, CTS-to-self, and L-SIG TXOP. Secondly, the applications of frame aggregation in communication protection were researched. Finally, we made a performance comparision between different rates of PHY with differences protection modes.Considering IEEE 802.11n communication protection mechanism and the characteristics of WLAN, we proposed and analyzed two different implementations in order to handle with lln protection based on centralized networks and distribution networks. The performance of these two ways on practical applications was studied deeply from the effiency of state machine, reliability and stability testing. The implementation based on centralized networks has three benefits:more complete functionality, faster response speed and more simple maintenance. It is conclude that the second implementation is more effective and feasible, which can handle with a variety of problems about the coexistence of wireless environment. In the end of the paper, we point out the directions of next step.
