The categories and quantities of digital information resource are keeping increase, that causes mass storage system has become a vital part of library. The structure of mass storage system determines many applications of digital information services in library, therefore a reasonable choice and design among blueprints of mass storage system is crucial for the construction and development of digital libraries. This thesis focused on mass storage system as one of the core parts of digital library.The thesis mainly discussed several issues as following.It compared characters and advantages among several popular mass storage systems, and brings out the anchor points and function demands during choosing mass storage system for libraries. The thesis also illuminated the advantages of mass storage system in digital library.The thesis analyzed the demands to storage system on reliability and security in digital libraries, and then it discussed the situation and future construction of storage system in some university in Jiangxi province.The thesis illuminated the principles and concrete ideas for the application of mass storage system in the library. It also put forward a proposal for an economical, practical mass storage system with high reliability for libraries in universities.The discussions on mass storage system in this essay are practical and useful, so it could be technological reference or feasible solution for building up mass storage systems with high performance and high usability for libraries in Jiangxi universities.
