At the end of 20th century, Information technology has applied and developed promptly, and global digital surge brought into incredibly explosive increment on digital information. Jim Gray, A winner of the ACM Turing Award, introduced Moore's law (related to data increase) in the network environment: every 18 months the volume of data generated is equivalent to the volume of data and ever. The enterprise and the government accumulated a great deal of data during the information age; and all data are their fundamentality. The whole society depends largely on information, the efficient storage and management of tremendous data are in more urgent need. Therefore, network storage technology put into use in the late 20th century, which solved the problem of data's geometric growth. In the meanwhile, network storage also meets the expectations of the enterprises and the governments in simplifying management and control of the data.However, in the increasingly competitive 21st century, enterprise's request towards network storage is higher and higher. Data, hardware, system, services are all suffered to different degrees, or even catastrophic breakage, when computer system suffers disasters such as fire, flood, earthquake, war or man-made breakage. What's more, data is the most valuable wealth for many fields; data's loss will be uncountable influence on the enterprise. But, traditional network storage technology could not solve these problems. When computer information system and key business suffer catastrophic breakage, how can enterprises recover normal data timely and reliably? Network storage and network disaster tolerance has become a research hot in the fields of data storage and network security.This thesis focuses on the key technologies while developing network disaster tolerance system based on windows I/O multi-path technology according to current requirements of the enterprises. And the primary works are as follows:(1) Introduce main-stream network storage technology, and analyses all key technologies considering accomplishment of network disaster tolerance system.(2) Research on WDM (Windows Driver Model) model and windows MPIO (Multipath Input/Output) of the principle and mechanism.(3) Design and achieve multipath I/O based on Windows 2003 Server.(4)Test the primary functions and storage capabilities of system and experimentation have proved that the system worked in order and design and implementation of this system was feasible.
