| This thesis is based on Van Dijk's discourse-cognition-society triangle to analyze three news discourses about 2008 Beijing Olympic Games from CNN website. Through critical analysis of the news discourse structures in the three samples as well as their contexts, the author finds that the three news reports from CNN are ideologically-controlled and have prejudice against China by mainly employing the strategy of negative other-presentation so as to influence the readers'formation of mental models. |
