A method, based on VRML and neural network technique integrated with JAVA programming, was introduced to build up a virtual belt machinery trial mechanism tester. The principle and basic framework of designation of the virtual tester was put forward and some examples were given to exploud its modeling process, multimedia design and interaction design. Using neural network technique to train the primitive discrete sample test data, get the continuous association-memory result, which will finally transmit to the virtual test based on VRML, via date communication, and display on the pannal. The belt drive experimental machine was completed virtualization. The virtual environment and experimental environment were the same and interactive. Providing theoretical and technical support for virtualization and networking of belt drive experimental machine .Main contributions and researches include :1. building up the total model of virtual tester and some parts ,using VRML modeling technique and PROE 3-dimension drawing technique.2. adding the sounds, pictures, animations and interaction with users to virtual tester, using VRML multimedia and interaction technique.3. building a database of the test sample using database technique ,which greatly improved the effecience of access to database and its storage ,and programmed the data communication and interface proccesure to access to the database.4. bringing the virtual tester to the network using the powerful of network function of JAVA, the users could do expriments though network.5. deliverying the association-memory result by neural network training, and fainally transmit to the virtual test based on VRML, via date communication, and display on the pannal.
