Performance Analysis Of 2000-2009 Scientific Research Projects Of Fujian Medical University

Talent education, scientific research and serving the society are universally recognized as the three major functions of higher institutions, of which scientific research plays the role of transformation and connection. The level of scientific research has an impact on teaching competence and the ability to serve the society, while the evaluation of the level of scientific research of an organization at a certain period of time is mainly through the appraisal of the amount and grade level of scientific research funds, research findings, etc. To get a reasonable assessment of our university's scientific research level, find out the advantages and characteristics of our school's scientific research, and discover the problems existing in the scientific research work, this paper is going to conduct a statistical analysis by bibliometrical method on the vertical subjects of various grades and types undertaken by Fujian Medical University from 2000 to 2009 as well as the scientific findings resulted from them.Through the statistical analysis on the scientific research findings of Fujian Medical University over the past 10 years, we can discover that the scientific research work of our school has made remarkable progress, which mainly embodies in the increasingly rising amounts of scientific research projects and scientific research funds, the ever rising capacity to undertake high-level projects, the ever higher level of the scientific research findings that have received awards, and the increasingly larger number of academic papers and patents getting published. However, we can also find many deficiencies existing in the research work of our school, for instance, the scientific research projects are relatively small, the research forces dispersed, the research funds insufficient, the sources of projects few, projects of higher levels rare, projects received national scientific rewards few, development of hospitals affiliated to the various colleges uneven, the scientific research direction diverse and without distinct characteristics, and so on and so forth.Therefore, to strengthen the scientific research work and improve the academic standards of our school, the paper puts forward the following proposals. First, raise awareness, and change the scientific research concepts of the faculty; second, set up a central laboratory in school, and improve the utilization of scientific instruments and facilities; next, establish a scientific research team, select a team leader, and enhance research competitiveness; fourth, pay attention to the training of young scientists; fifth, make full use of the overseas alumni resources for the scientific research services of our university; sixth, further optimize scientific research management, improve the overall quality of the management personnel, and make better service for the scientific and technical personnel;finally, Attention to interdisciplinary and cross-penetration.
