The evaluation of the performances of the scientific research projects is very important to enhance the efficiency and the quality of the management of the scientific research projects, and is also propitious to the contributive department that they have a scientific understand on the ractice of the project of the scientific research and the work of the scientific research personnel, and provides the scientific basic to the management of the scientific research projects and follow-up sustentation. This paper regards the partial random sampled projects of the scientific research projects supported by zhejiang provincial education department from 1997 to 2004 as a research sample, and we get data through theinvestigation by questionnaire. The extension of the evaluation of the performances of the scientific research projects not only includes the direct output of the projects ,but also the follow-up benefit of the projects. This paper reviews the macro performance and the performance of the inhomogeneous projects on the basis of the performance of a single project. Then we get results: 1, the tendency of the gross performance of the scientific research projects supported by zhejiang provincial education department from 1997 to 2004 is all through ascending each year, and as a whole the average performance of the single project and the performance of each ten thousand outlay of scientific research is ascending . However, the performance of each manpower of scientific research has no tendency as a whole, but from the view of subsection, from 1997 to 2000 it is descending each year, from 2001 to 2004 it is ascending each year.2, the performance of the inhomogeneous scientific research projects is different, and the level of their performance is also different. The author studies the relationship between the direct output and the follow-up benefit, and between the input and output of projects of the inhomogeneous school and the projects presided over by different title of a technical post by canonical correlation analysis. The results show that they are all different. At last we put forward to the suggestions andprovide the scientific basis to improve the quality of the management of the scientific research projects supported by zhejiang provincial education department and the output of the scientific research for the future.
