Objective:To evaluate the features of patients with posttraumatic anosmia's MR findings. Methods:8 patients with posttraumatic anosmia and 12 normal volunteers underwent MR examination. In anosmic patients, the injury of olfactory bulbs and related cortex was visualized and recorded. And the volume of olfactory bulbs in anosmic patients was measured and compared with that inl2 normal volunteers. Results:The imaging findings including cerebromalacia and chronic hemorrhagic foci were found in all patients. The injuries were commonly located at frontal lobes (8/8) and temporal lobes (4/8). The injuries of olfactory bulbs were seen in 7 patients. The olfactory bulbs' volumes in anosmic patients were smaller than those in volunteers (P <0.05).Conclusion: MR could revealed abnormalities of the shape and signal of olfactory tract in patients with posttraumatic anosmia.MR imaging is a complementary modality for the diagnosis of posttraumatic dysosmia.
