Study on safety aspects and performance of Harness (acetochlor) and Sumisoya(flumioxazin) on the buckwheat Abstract This paper studied applicative techniques of herbicides Harness and Sumisoya employed to soil in the buckwheat field by completely random design. In this paper, safety aspects on the buckwheat and herbicides performance of alternative crops were carried on by biological tests and pot experiments. Morphological and physiological indicators of the buckwheat and other alternative crops were determined and analyzed, such as the rate of emergence, crop height, weight, the content of chlorophyll, photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate, level of nitrate reductase, level of SOD and so on. The results indicated that, Sumisoya has strongly remarkable inhibitive or fatal effect; and it has extremely significant action even if Sumisoya was at the lowest rate(5g/667m5.Harness has great influence on root length and root weight of the buckwheat. With the increase of herbicide level, the highest inhibition rate can be up to 80-87%. The general trend of Harness and Sumisoya on most morphological and physiological indicators of the buckwheat was, with the increase of herbicide level, inhibition rate were also elevated. At the low level (Harness 80 mu 667m2, Sumisoya 1 Og/ 667m2) , inhibition rate of the rate of emergence on the buckwheat can not be over 50%. In general, Harness(0-1QhmlI667m2X Sumisoya(5-l Og/667mj were better herbicides in the buckwheat field, and has high preventive and killing effect on broadleaf weeds(90%) and the grass faniily(95%).
