Fujian Coastal Towns Outdoor Fire Water Supply System Reliability Analysis And Optimization Studies

It is critical for fire-fighting water supply system to extinguish a fire and to reduce damage effectively, since water serves as a major fire extinguishing agent. Therefore, a study on the reliability of fire protection water supply system in cities and towns was investigated aimed to guarantee the safety of fire prevention water supply. Moreover, it is of important academic and practical significance for this work.1. Reliability theory was used to evaluate the fire protection water supply system in cities and towns, and reliability study was carried out on this system, thus a reliability model was established.2. The developed reliability model was applied to the fire water supply system of an industrial region in coastal Fujian Province, and reliability assessment was made and reasonable results were obtained.3. For the scarcity of fresh water resources in this region, it is suggested to make use of sea water as a source of fire water supply instead of fresh water and to augment the availabity of fire water supply by this measures. Meanwhile, the solutions for anticorrosion of pipeline and fittings as well as for inhibition of marine biological breeding on them are proposed.The reliability model developed in this paper can be used to assess the reliability of fire water supply system in cities and towns, and appled to construction and management of fire water supply system in such areas. This model is beneficial for staffs to identify weakness in the fire fighting system and to reinforce the construction and management of fire water supply system, as well as to ensure the safety of fire fighting system in cities and towns. Considering severe shortage of freshwater in coastal regions, it is essential for seawater being proposed as an alternative fire water supply in order to guarantee the reliability of fire fighting system.
